Terry Pratchett opening East Knoyle Post Office

Lordie but Flickr is abundant with images. Some cool stuff there from other libraries and I'm starting to see how rich a resource it could be. Can't help myself. As a librarian I immediately see the usefulness it presents in finding information rather than thinking about what I could put on it. For example you can combine the term costume with given decades and fairly quickly find some representative stuff. A bit patchy, I know but it's amazing what's out there.
Cause I'm a Terry Pratchett fan and don't mind phone boxes, courtesy of Dr Who, this photo pressed all my buttons.

The frustration of naming a blog

I found it incredibly challenging naming this blog and ended up choosing a Black Adder reference. For no reason that I could possibly imagine.

I'm definitely opposed to blogging for the sake of blogging, which is ironic because this blog is largely that - though the intention is obviously to get experience at blogging. I can also see the benefits of blogs having now surfed around a number of pretty cool sites.

In a stream-of-consciousness kind of way it's amazing what a dangerous part the car plays in modern life. I suspect most of us have been involved in a car accident of some kind. At a recent library professional gathering one person, claiming to be in late thirties, confessed to being involved in 11 car accidents. Fortunately none were serious. This generated some amusement (particularly the impressive strike rate) but it underlines the serious nature of travel by road. Roll on teleportation devises.
